My hair is a LOT curlier than yours -- kinky might describe it. I've always worn it short, but when I was 50 I thought, what have I always wanted to do and never done and there was only one clear answer: Grow long hair. So I did. I told the lovely lady who'd been cutting my hair forever,"You aren't going to see me for 10 years."

Then I started letting it grow. It was a strange feeling, to have longer hair. But being so curly, the longer it got, the thicker it got, and I ended up mostly pulling it back into a low, bushy pony tail as the only way to look presentable.

After 10 years, on my 60th birthday I appeared for a haircut, and told her to Do Something Interesting with it. She did, and I wore it that way for 10 more years. This year, the year I retired, I decided to go back to the way I wore it in the 60s -- what was then called an Afro. It suited me perfectly. So she cut it. And it looks and feels great. Except now it's white instead of dark. I love it.

I think this is good. I think new hair deserves a whirl because you would look adorable in braided pig tails. Kiala will do the braiding, I assume?

Also, Frogging? Is this when you shrink the wool? Wait. That's felting. Felching is something else entirely...

What's frogging?

I have long hair for the first time since I was a little girl and I'm amazed at how, the longer it gets, the better it behaves.

But, I do often have to have the middle section thinned out. Otherwise, I look like the cartoon character Cathy. NOT A GOOD LOOK.

What Ben said.

GILMORE GIRLS HAIR.

What kept me going through all the bad in between hair times was looking at pictures of Kate Beckinsale.

I imagine this helps a lot of people for a lot of different reasons.

My dad used to say, "clothes don't make the man" and I think this applies to hair as well.

However, I think you should go for it. With your thick thick hair, you might get lucky and end up with long luxurious Lauren Graham hair...which, as you know, is the standard by which all hair is measured.

Hair is a woman's power. Period. And I kept my hair long for just that reason. Braided pigtails. They are worth the years of pain and agony over bad in-between hair. WORTH. IT.
