Back to Basics

This is going to be a knitting blog for a little while, maybe. I started out as a knit blogger five years ago. FIVE YEARS I’VE BEEN BLOGGING.
And yes, I’m going to keep blogging, but I need to hit my stride again, so knitting.
I saw the Citron pattern in knitty last week and I was in lurve. I even had the correct yarn in that delicious green! The first time that’s happened. Ever. I’ve never knit with lace weight yarn, and I can see the need for lace knitting needles. The needles I’m using are just regular needles and OH so frustrating to get in the loops and make all the necessary increases.
I may need to swing by Twisted and pick up some Addi lace needles.
Archie is heading down to California for Christmas with his dad. I’m sad we won’t be together for Christmas this year. And this is my first Christmas not in California. I’m wary about the whole thing. But I survived the solstice yesterday and I’ve been sitting under my sunlamp and so far there’s been no snow, thank god.
I guess this is part of the new life too.
Fancyhats and I are going to watch movies on Christmas, exchange gifts, eat extravagantly and go see Sherlock Holmes.
Also, I’m going to work on citron — the new obsession.

I love, love, love that! Love it.
I think your Christmas sounds as good as it can get without the little dude around. Enjoy it. It will be delicious and relaxing.

I love that. Like, alot. I don’t have the patience for little yarn. I go big. And I cheat and use a nifty knitter, too. I’m a knitting loser.
Oh! And your Christmas sounds divine! I’m doing absolutely NOTHING! Because we’re having a huge, huge blizzard and I’m so excited, I might just wet my pants. So tonight, I’m going to the grocery store and buying a roast beast and potatoes and asparagus and peppermint ice cream because no matter if it’s just me and the cats, we’re going to cook!

Sooooooooo jealous you get to go see Sherlock! I’ve never knit lace weight either. Small yarn is scary to me. I tried to cast on for the poo yesterday…I couldn’t get past the first row for whatever reason. So, I went back to a scarf to make myself feel like somewhat of a successful knitter.

Glad you’re back Melissa Lion!
It looks like you’ve already got the meat layer of a kickass hamburger creation

We’re going to go see Sherlock Holmes too!
With my mom (is there an opposite equivalent to exclamation points?)
